An Affiliate to the NJOF can only be an organization that was created to promote Juneteenth Indepedence Day (June 19, 1865) as the official recognition of independence for all African-Americans in this country. An Affiliate Organization must be an incorporated body and functioning under the laws of their state. An Affiliate Organization may seek the assistance of the Foundation in becoming incorporated prior to seeking an affiliate status.

An Affiliate will be entitled to the support and assistance of the Foundation as it relates to promoting the ideals of Juneteenth Independence Day activities. Both the Affiliate and the Foundation will have the right to provide advice and offer recommendations to each other in their approach and policy of addressing Juneteenth activities and events. Affiliates would have access to communication and information developed by the Foundation. Affiliates may be selected to participate on various standing or ad hoc committees of the Foundation. An Affiliate organization will have no voting rights in the affairs of the Foundation. The Affiliate will be required to submit an application to the Foundation for acceptance. Affiliates will be able to publish information about their activities through the Foundation for nationwide distribution. There will be nominal Affiliation Fee for continued participation as an Affiliate.

The Affiliate shall be required to have a compatible mission to that of the Foundation. An Affiliate must be willing to support the goals of the Foundation by disseminating information of Foundation events and activities, and provide local publicity as needed.

Upon application, an Affiliate will be entitled to apply to the Foundation for support and assistance for local activities consistent with the mission of the Foundation.

An Affiliate will be required to enter into an Affiliation Contract under which their relationship to the Foundation is governed. An Affiliate at all times and for all purposes is a separate legal entity and shall act in an independent, separate legal capacity and not as an employee, agent, or representative of the Foundation.
