6th Annual Buffalo Fish Festival Celebrates African-American Contributions to the Catfish Industry

(Belzoni, Mississippi) - The 6th Annual African-American Heritage BUFFALO FISH FESTIVAL will take place on Saturday, April 7, 2001, in Belzoni, Mississippi. The festival will feature Blues Legend Bobby Rush with a special performance beginning at "High Noon", 12:00 noon, on the corner of Rev. George Lee Avenue and Jackson Street. Also, in concert will be accomplished Mississippi Delta Jazz Pianist and Trumpeter Ron Myers, Dornell Nullem and local music groups, choirs and gospel groups. The festival honors the contributions of African-American workers to the Catfish Industry and Belzoni native, Denise LaSalle, the legendary "Queen of Soul Blues".
